Featuring enhanced AFDS driver technology and newly developed pinner-aligned diffuser
7th May 2024, Brighton, UK: The new D7000 builds upon Final’s legacy of award-winning open-back planar magnetic flagship headphones. Having first developed their own driver technology for the award-winning D8000, revolutionising the capabilities of planar-magnetic headphones, Final has since improved on its Air Film Damping System (AFDS) for greater efficiency and extended reproduction of bass frequencies.
Final's new D7000 planar-magnetic headphones are now available to buy from selected retailers worldwide including Audio46 (US) and Premium Sound (UK) for $3499 / £2999.
Taking a holistic approach to design, Final uses machined aluminium-magnesium alloy for the D7000 housing. As well as being lightweight, the materials used allow for the D7000 housing to be machined with great precision, getting the most out of the AFDS and advanced driver technology.
The D7000 has been introduced as a new flagship product alongside the D8000 and D8000 Pro Edition, offering a unique sound signature that sets it apart from other D-series models and provides users with a newly distinct listening experience.
The D7000 achieves a sound that expertly balances the delicate high frequencies characteristic of planar magnetic with the powerful and open low frequencies of dynamic drivers. Moreover, it provides high resolution, especially in the vocal and string ranges, delivering a musically rich and smooth sound signature.
Advanced technology development
With conventional planar magnetic headphones, the driver unit is normally designed to limit the lowest bass frequency produced. This prevents the diaphragm from coming into contact with the magnet when playback volume is high.
In the D7000, the AFDS solves the problem of the diaphragm coming into contact with the magnet, and it is now possible to lower the frequency of the bass tones that the driver can reproduce without distortion. This creates a level of bass extension, openness and power never before experienced with planar-magnetic drivers.
Final has also developed its new pinna-aligned diffuser for the D7000. Recognising the effect that the varying shapes and sizes of the human ear has on sound quality; Final developed the pinna-aligned diffuser to deliver sonic consistency. Numerous simulations tailored to various shapes of the outer ear and hearing experiments were conducted, ultimately leading to the creation of a diffuser shape that is optimal for all users.
A complete experience
In order to create a complete user experience for the D7000, Final includes carefully designed accessories which have all been created to enhance the D7000 from the moment they are unboxed.
Final’s newly developed open-type earpads use a unique Washi material, meaning Japanese traditional paper, which has superior durability, air permeability, moisture control, and antibacterial/odour-eliminating properties.
This breathable material provides a natural openness that utilises the bass capability of the D7000 AFDS driver. Furthermore, the headband part also employs the same material, ensuring high durability and resistance to moisture.
The D7000 is supplied with a dedicated protective carry case which can store a selection of headphone cables, and can be locked for added security. Final has equipped the D7000 with their high-quality 3m OFC cable terminated with a 6.3mm headphone socket.
The D7000, by redesigning the drivers including the newly developed pinna-aligned diffuser, achieves a sound that balances the rich, open bass and delicate high frequencies characteristic of the D8000 and D8000 Pro Edition. Additionally, it features high resolution in the vocal and string ranges, with a sound that feels slightly closer to the ear and is very smooth.
The Final D7000 is available now in the US for $3499 from Audio46 and Bloom Audio. Also available now in the UK from Premium Sound, Hifonix and Audiologica for £2999.
About Final
Established in 2007, Final began as a subsidiary of the major American connector manufacturer Molex; in 2014, it went independent through an MBO by the current management team. Now is what you would call, its second formation.
Products such as earphones and headphones belong to a category known as current electrical appliances whose value is the greatest when they are brand new. We, however, would like to create earphones and headphones that people have an affinity for and continue to use in much the same way they have with a mechanical wristwatch, the kind that will be valued as an antique in the future. To that end, it is necessary to embody the design of the product and the way in which it is considered, including the repair system, as a concrete organization or structure.
Our brand concept is simple and has not changed since the company’s inception - “The comprehensive pursuit of things that are fundamentally right”. In our pursuit of this, we have actively adopted cutting edge technology such as 3D printers. We believe that such a pursuit is what creates a brand.
